Hello Clearwater Parents!

What a week it’s been! Kids “back” at school and new learning curves for all of us as we adjust to our new normal for a while.

As a leadership team, we join with you and all those around the world asking the Lord to stop this virus and bring health and healing to people and nations.

Parents, you have been on our hearts this week. We know many of you are juggling jobs and schooling as you work from home. You may also be juggling your own anxiety about this virus, your family’s safety, isolation, and job security during this time.

Hopefully, this article we’ve attached (below) can bring some encouragement. The reality is we have all been thrown into Crisis schooling not Homeschooling. Yes, we are all schooling at home but it’s a crisis that has put us here. Homeschooling is NOT the same as Crisis schooling. People who homeschool made the decision to do so. For many of you, schooling from home was not your decision. Let’s also not forget that this crisis hits the homeschool community just as hard as everyone else. Homeschoolers aren’t usually house bound as we all are now.

So how do we do this? Can we offer one word. A small word that is huge! GRACE
1. Parents, give yourself grace during this time. Schooling in your house is going to look different than other’s homes. God has given you unique gifts and talents that have equipped you to lead your children!
2. Schooling from home won’t take all day. Your child is no longer sitting in a classroom of 20 or more students.
3. If you’re struggling, reach out to a friend that homeschools and learn from them. What works, what doesn’t.
4. If you’ve been homeschooling, please give grace to those who have been tossed into the deep water unexpectedly.
5. Reading, writing, and math are important subjects and skills for sure. These things can be taught in so many ways just doing life and having fun as a family.

As a children’s ministry team, we have not wanted to overwhelm you this past week as schooling as started. We are excited though to share some new things with you this week. I heard someone say once. The word of God first and the word of God most! What a great thing!

Parents, we would encourage you that as you start to school everyday, start with a devotional, worship, and prayer. This doesn’t have to be a big or long thing. Just dedicate your day and learning to the Lord. Give it to Him and take the pressure off of you! His yoke is easy and His burden is light!

Grace! What a beautiful word. A reminder to us all of what Jesus did on the cross. Grace! What we need to receive. Grace! What we need to give to ourselves and others.

This is our last week with the kids studying the theme of forgiveness. We expect by now in isolation that learning to walk in forgiveness with your families is a real thing! What a timely word for all of us!

Below are the lessons and videos for this week.

May the Grace of God be upon you all!

Clearwater KIDS Sunday morning happenings:
• 9:00 a.m. – KICKSTART. Classes for kids of all ages. Start your Sunday off right! Fun, friends, and some extra time with Jesus. Elementary kids will learn amazing things about God’s love in small groups. Our fabulous small group leaders help kids navigate their faith through relationship!

• 9:45 – 10:20 a.m. – Elementary KIDS Worship, Room 132. A fun and active time to experience biblical truths thorough modern-day worship music.

God loves kids! Here at Clearwater your child has his or her own special place to grow, make friends and discover God’s love for them, and we call this place Clearwater KIDS! You’ll feel comfortable with our clean, safe environments and screened, trained volunteers. We are here to partner with your family to help your children grow to know and love God. Children’s programs are offered during 9:00 a.m. adult classes and our 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Here in our elementary ministry, we desire to introduce the children to Jesus and see them look to him for everyday guidance in their lives. Our hope is that we can help be the spark that ignites a deeper sense of identity, belonging, and mission in each and every child we serve. Our curriculum is designed to provoke discovery and invite kids into a new understanding of how to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus, one that they can carry with them to school, the park and home.

What to Expect on Sunday
Your children will worship with you in the main sanctuary. After worship, an announcement will be made at the end of the songs to dismiss children to their group for children’s church. The kids will meet their teacher at the back of the sanctuary near the south door. You can pick your child up from the Elementary classroom located down the hallway directly across from the south sanctuary door. Contact Gay Kroening with any questions.

• KICKSTART life group class- where your child can laugh and play, learn and grow, develop friendships and community, and discover God’s great love for them. Meets at 9:00 a.m. in the elementary classroom.

• Children’s Worship- where your Elementary child can encounter God as they engage in fun age appropriate music which expresses their love for Jesus. Seeing children worship their Heavenly Father in spirit and truth is the greatest reward we could imagine and we believe it creates moments for them that they will never forget!

Parents
At Clearwater, we believe that we make the greatest impact on a child’s life when we partner with their parents. While we have about 40 hours a year to influence a child, a parent has over 3,000 hours a year. That’s why it’s so important to us that we give you the tools to reinforce the lessons from Sunday throughout the week. Below are some awesome resources to help you do that.

Parent Cue App
Hey parents, check out the Parent Cue App. This app is designed to give parenting tools and cues important to your child’s developmental stage from birth through high school. It’s also connected to our elementary Orange Curriculum so Sunday lessons can be reinforced at home throughout the week! Download it for free now.

Our lives are busy. As parents, we want to prioritize our children. We want to do everything we can to invest in them relationally, to guide them developmentally and to help them grow in their faith in Christ. But it’s just so easy to get caught up in the urgent day-to-day business of life.

Every parent has 936 weeks of influence from the time their child is born until they graduate. Parent Cue helps you count the weeks and connects you with practical things to read, do or say to help you engage with the heart of your child this week. Designed for parents of babies through high schoolers, these prompts will come in the form of videos and things to talk about in the morning, at meal time or while you are cuddling with your toddler or driving in the car. Each week there’s even a Phase Cue to help you understand the developmental phase your child is in today.

Look for our handout this weekend and let us know if you have questions! We are so excited to share this resource with our wonderful parents! 936 weeks. You don’t want to miss a single one.

Have some questions about the new Parent Cue App?

What are the basic facts?
The latest update of the Parent Cue app is compatible with Apple’s iOS 4.3 or later and Android’s 4.0-4.4. It’s designed for parents of newborns through graduating seniors. It’s FREE!

How is it different than the old Parent Cue App?
It combines the Legacy Countdown with weekly Parent Cues and Phase Cues. What is the purpose of the app? It’s designed to help parents connect with the heart of their child every week through Bible based content (Orange Curriculum) and practical things to say and do with their child. The content is age specific, based on the number of weeks a child has left till graduation.

How do you calculate the number of weeks?
The weeks displayed in this app are approximate and based on a generalized formula created from your child’s birthday, their grade in school, and a mid-May graduation date of their anticipated Senior year.

What if a parent doesn’t go to an Orange Church?
The content and cues can be used in any family, whether or not a family attends church. What information will parents need to share on the app? Child’s name, birthdate and grade are required to receive content about their child.

They will also need to give parent name and email address. Is this information safe?
Absolutely! We promise to not share any information outside Parent Cue and all information about their child is only available to the parent.
